| Jining abounds in wheat, corn, rice, cotton, peanut, vegetables, fruits, livestock produce and fishing products, etc. The grain yield accounts for 1/10 of Shandong Province and the freshwater products account for 1/4 of the whole province. It is an important production base of commodity grain and the main raising region of Lu Xi yellow ox, little-tailed Han sheep. The mineral resources are wide in varieties and large in reserves, which include mainly coal, rare-earth, limestone, gypsum, bolognian stone, phosphorus, iron, copper, lead, etc. The coal reserves are 26 billion tons, account for over 50% of the whole province, making Jining one of the eight major coals bases of the whole country; the rare-earth reserves are 12.75 million tons, occupying the second place nationwide; the freshwater reserves ( mainly from Weishan Lake, the largest freshwater lake of North China, with water storage of about 2.6 billion cubic meters) are nearly 6 billion cubic meters, account for 1/6 of the whole province; the electric installment capacity is 5 million kilowatts, accounts for 1/6 of the whole province. The “three Confucian sites” in Qufu, “four Mencian sites” in Zoucheng, Liangshan Mountain as well as Weishan Lake, enjoy high reputation worldwide. The resources of agricultural products, coals, electricity, freshwater and tourism are endowed richly by nature and the potential for further development is enormous. |
