I. Economic restructuring
The city has made marked achievements in restructuring its economy. About 2，363 enterprises have been reformed and restructured. The city had 28 joint-stock enterprises， 724 corporations limited， 264 cooperative ventures established and 870 sold， 58 merged， 650 bankrupt， 286 leased. Nearly 33.702 billion yuan of capital were withdrawn from 2，178 state-owned or collective-owned enterprises ， accounting for 72.5% of the total. The city has five enterprises that have been listed on the stock market， namely， Lukang Pharmaceuticals Group， Shantui Excavator Group， Yanzhou Coal Mining Group， Sun paper Group， Shengwang Pharmaceuticals Group.
II. Foreign economic cooperation and trade
Foreign economy has developed soundly. Import and export have been increasing steadfastly . In 2004， the total volume of import and export reached over 1.44 billion US dollars， an increase of 43.6% from the previous year. The export reached 824.75 million US dollars， an increase of 54.7%， while the import was 619.67 million US dollars， an increase of 30.9%. The city has made new breakthrough in utilization of foreign investment. Nearly 160 foreign-invested projects have been ratified， up 17.7%. The contractual amount of foreign investment was 1.09 billion US dollars， an increase of 84.4% and the actual foreign investment reached 412.26 million US dollars， an increase of 105.0%. Foreign cooperation has been increasing steadily in other areas， such as oversea investment， project contracting and labor export. The yearly project contracting involved 10.9 million US dollars; the yearly labor export involved 1470 people， an increase of 66%. Currently there are 2866 labors abroad， increased by 62.1%.
III. Tourism
In 2004， the city received 104，000 overseas tourists， who have brought to the city a total of 16.469 million US dollars of foreign exchange. Meanwhile， more than 10.159 million Chinese travelers visited Jining， generating a total revenue of 6.132 billion yuan. In 2004， the tourism industry generated a total revenue of 6.269 billion yuan.
